Level: "Rookie"

These lessons are intended for real beginners and children.‌‌‌

The Spanish guitar is the most suitable instrument for this level. Due to the nylon strings and acoustic properties, the Spanish guitar is easy to play and has the advantage that you can practice anywhere.‌‌‌

Of course you can also start with an electric guitar or ukulele, this strongly depends on personal preference and that is ultimately the most important thing.‌‌‌

The lessons are prepared individually, appropriate to the level of the student.

e.g. if there is a growth in interest in classical music, the teaching material will be adjusted accordingly.‌‌‌

In general, I encourage personal input of music that the student likes to learn.

We then work together towards the desired goal, which strengthens motivation.‌‌‌

During your guitar studies, attention is also paid to general musical skills. As with any other instrument, you learn what music is. You will see that your hearing, your sense of rhythm and understanding of music will improve significantly.

The content of the lessons can for example be:

  • Names and plucking of the strings
    ‌‌‌
  • Simple melodies (while I accompany you on guitar)
    ‌‌‌
  • Chords to play along with your favorite songs
    ‌‌‌
  • Discovery of styles with the guitar.
(simple classical, pop, folk, movie music [Disney] etc.)
    ‌‌‌
  • Tone exercises (listening and distinguishing tones)
    ‌‌‌
  • Comprehensive listening: what is the melody of a song? what is rhythm?

  • For whom it appeals: learning notes

‌‌‌
For children, 30 minutes is a feasible time because of the concentration.
Adult beginners are usually best off taking 45-minute lessons.

Lessons are given weekly.
(Weekly tracking is important for beginners!)
‌‌‌
You can sign up for a free trial lesson of 30 minutes.
The trial lesson is also the intake for a course.
‌‌‌
The lessons are in principle given per course of 10 lessons and paid in advance (see rates below)
‌‌‌
Lessons may be rescheduled during school holidays and public holidays.
‌‌‌
In case of illness or other reasons for absence, the lesson can be rescheduled, but payment remains due for missed lessons. (catching up on lessons is only possible if canceled on time, unless force majeure is involved)

Lessons of 30 minutes each cost € 20 per lesson
Charged per 10 lessons € 180,- (1 lesson free)
‌‌‌
Lessons of 45 minutes each cost € 30 per lesson
Settled per 10 lessons € 270 (1 lesson free)

Level: "Bring it on"

This level is suitable for people who already have knowledge of the basic skills.
‌‌‌
You can already play the guitar, but you want to take a new step, improve your technique, or refine your theory. You may feel like you are standing still, but your technique or knowledge is holding you back from moving forward.
‌‌‌
‌‌‌The content of the lessons can for example be:

  • ‌‌‌You like to play pop or blues, but you also want to be able to play solo. We play together and alternate in accompaniment and solo.
    ‌‌‌
  • You have mastered rhythm guitar, but now you also want to be able to master styles such as “fingerpicking”.
    ‌‌‌
  • Jazz is your thing, “but what do I play over the chords? How do I accompany in a combo?” Improvisation and fretboard theory are highlighted.‌‌‌
    ‌‌‌
  • You like to sing and want to be able to accompany yourself on guitar.
    ‌‌‌
  • Maybe you don’t have any, or only basic, knowledge of notes for guitar and you want to learn this?
    ‌‌‌
  • Classical guitar is a style in which several voices are played simultaneously, which requires a specific technical skill. In these lessons you will become acquainted with classical techniques based on simple practice pieces.‌‌‌
    ‌‌‌
  • Of course, a combination of different points from the above list can be made. The lessons are prepared individually, appropriate to your level.

‌‌‌For this level of guitar lessons, 45 minutes is a minimum duration, but in general you quickly run out of time and 60 minutes is recommended, especially for more advanced students.

Level: "Damn I’m good"

Always wanted to play higher level pieces?
Or maybe you even want to apply for admission to the conservatory?
‌‌‌
You have already become acquainted with the classic style, but now you want to take it a step further. Maybe you want to master one specific technique, such as trèmolo or rasgueado?
‌‌‌
This level requires the necessary dedication and self-study. My role is more that of a coach: “inspire, motivate and support”, to give direction to your guitar study.
‌‌‌
The basic skills for this level are:

  • mastery of reading notes
  • mastery of basic classical technique
(such as polyphonic playing, arpeggios and scales)

In these lessons we work together to take your technique, interpretation and fretboard knowledge to the next level. In consultation we will set clear – realistically achievable – goals in a program tailored to your level.

The teaching material consists of concert pieces, etudes and technique exercises. Also, we will analyze all the pieces to some extent.

Face-2-Face

Think of pieces by various composers:

  • Heitor Villa-Lobos (préludes)
  • Francisco Tarrega
  • Abel Carlevaro
  • Domenico Scarlatti
  • Astor Piazzolla
  • Sergio Assad

Or various études and exercises by:

  • Fernando Sor
  • Matteo Carcassi
  • Leo Brouwer

It is important to pay attention to fretboard knowledge. This is often a bit underestimated in the classical style, but I myself am a big believer in fretboard theory.
‌‌‌
Knowledge of the fretboard is not only important for your fingerings, but especially for understanding what you are playing. We practice this with scales, intervals and harmony.

‌‌‌For this level of guitar lessons, 45 minutes is a minimum duration, but in general you quickly run out of time and 60 minutes is recommended, especially for more advanced students.

Group lessons

Music is for playing and sharing together: music is a “social event”.
‌‌‌
Do you prefer group guitar lessons? Are you a beginner, but do you like to play together right away? Together you start on guitar in blocks of 10 lessons each.
‌‌‌
In these lessons, a group is composed of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 people. Group lessons are given on Mondays and Wednesdays from 19:15 – 20:15.

‌‌‌If there are enough registrations to form a group, you will be notified by email. Once the group has been put together, communication goes through a Whatsapp group..
‌‌‌
In the first lesson we get to know each other and start playing together. We start each lesson by playing together in a rhythm. Then we’ll cover a song. This can vary from pop, oldies hits, soul, blues, folk and singer-songwriter. The goal is to play a new song every two weeks.
‌‌‌
Classes are taught in 10 sessions. At the end of the first 10 lessons you will have learned:

  • Basic chords
  • Teamwork and sense of rhythm
  • Musical hearing and general knowledge of music
  • Basic level rhythm guitar
  • Basic level strumming

After the first 10 lessons, it is possible to continue with the whole group to the next level: you will achieve a purer playing and tighter rhythm, so that there are more possibilities to play different songs. This increases the fun and repertoire.
‌‌‌
For these lessons you must bring your own guitar. I recommend using a Spanish guitar (nylon strings). A “Western guitar” (metal strings) is also an option. Unfortunately, due to lack of space, it is not possible to play the electric guitar.
‌‌‌
I provide my students with all the teaching materials, so no books or methods need to be bought.
‌‌‌
Group lessons are only for adults from 18 years old. Minimum registration 4 people. The price is 15 euros per lesson and is paid in advance in 10 lessons.

‌‌‌€ 15,- per person / 60 minutes
